The smooth lines and elegant proportions of the 1940 Lincoln Continental reflected the classic tastes of Henry Ford's son Edsel. Underneath the beautiful body, however, was the outdated chassis of the standard Lincoln Zephyr, as the ad (top) suggests and the design drawing dated October 1938 (middle) confirms.
